Meet Cypress Falls High School sophomore Lani Brewer in this "Student of the Week" profile.
15-year-old Brewer is an 'A' student who is going into her second year competing on Golden Eagles' varsity tennis and track teams. She was a member of two relays that advanced to the Region III-6A meet in the spring.
Favorite class: "My favorite class is Spanish because I enjoy immersing myself in cultures that are not my own. I am also very determined to be bilingual."
Favorite things to do after class: "I enjoy playing tennis inside and outside of school, as well as running on the school track team. When I'm not partaking in athletics, I tend to read or play the guitar I also love passing time surrounded by friends and family."
Favorite song: "Countdown by Beyoncé."
Favorite website: "YouTube is my favorite website because of the diverse content on it."
Favorite TV show: "My favorite show is Arrested Development because of its ongoing gags and 'fake documentary' format."
Favorite movie: "My favorite movie is Guardians of the Galaxy 2 because I have never laughed harder at any other movie."
Ambition: "I would like to become a general surgeon because I am very interested with biology and think I could use my interest to help trauma victims. Surgery has always seemed very fascinating to me and I believe I could use my athletic ability to take me places where I can study such fields."
What topics/things are you passionate about?: "I am interested in topics concerning the legality of certain things in the United State such as immigration, the death penalty and abortion, among others."
Who inspires you?: "My parents and coaches inspire me every day to work hard because the great things in life never come easy."
What three things can't you live without?: "I can't live without my family, friends or mentors."
What are you most looking forward to this semester?: "I am looking forward to competing in my future tournaments and meets."
